Hardwood Floor Services is an investment that will last for a long time with the proper installation and care. There are different modes of installation for engineered wood strips, solid wood strips, and parquet. With all modes of installation moisture testing is imperative to ensure proper installation. Installation can be a painstaking process but we take pride in leaving your home looking as beautiful as we found it. We are the Central Valley’s best that have seen every situation and are proficient in the three different types of installation for hardwood flooring.
Nail Down/Staple Installation
In this method of hardwood floor services, we nail down or staple solid or engineered wood strips to the subflooring (usually either plywood or plank wood). The floor is done with random length strips. A few strips are placed down and arranged prior to fastening to ensure proper placement and tautness.
Glue Down Installation
In this method of hardwood floor services, we glue down engineered wood strips or parquet directly to the subfloor. In these cases the subfloor is usually concrete, so we pay extra attention to moisture. With glue down installations, it is important to consider any kind of allergies and sensitivities to smell. We use an acrylic based glue which is more mild than some of the other options. Glue down installations can be walked on the next day and furniture can also be moved in.
In this method we glue together the tongue and groove of every plank and the floor floats over a foam cushioned padding. If the flooring has a locking system we can lock the pieces together without glue. This can be used with either laminate or engineered wood floor, but either way the flooring is pre-finished. Not all engineered surfaces can be floated. Floating installation can also be placed over subflooring of questionable quality unlike the other two modes. Also, floating floors are a great option if you have multiple layers of flooring and do not want to remove them all. And floating installation The wear layer is important to consider as the thicker the layer the more times it can be refinished.
Generally, laminate flooring gives a hollow feeling underfoot with this mode of installation. Remember that floating floors expand and contract as a unit because the pieces of fused together. Allow for as much expansion area as possible.

Hardwood Floor Repair
Here are some common hardwood floor problems that Pyle Legacy Floors can help with:
Split or Cracked Wood
Over time, many hardwood floors develop small splits or cracks in the surface of the wood.
Gaps in the Planks
This is a common development for hardwood floors. The most common cause of these gaps is Mother Nature. Wood shrinks as it dries out, and it expands when it gets wet and humid. That regular expansion and contraction over time is the most common cause of gaps, and is the main reason why most gaps are seasonal in nature.
When the floorboards warp and lift up from the subfloor, this is called buckling. It is imperative that the root cause of this be identified. Once that is done, the necessary measures should be taken to ensure that your hardwood planks are firmly attached to the subfloor.
Also called washboarding, this develops gradually across the width of the wood strip where the edges of the hardwood planks raise up and the center of the board sinks down. The cause of cupped floors is a moisture imbalance where there is more water on the bottom side of the wood plank than on the top.
Warped Hardwood Floors
Also known as sagging, this is a serious problem for any homeowner. It is often the result of serious moisture problems, and any evidence of warped hardwood floors must be addressed immediately. Warped hardwood floors are rarely the result of faulty hardwood or installation, but are a symptom of larger moisture problems in the home itself that needs to be taken care of.
Other Hardwood Floor Repair Problems
There may also be scratching or loose planks with hardwood flooring. Scratches can be repaired with touch up kits, or something as simple as a like colored crayon. If you’ve got serious scratching, however, you may need to hire a contractor to refinish the flooring altogether. With loose planks, the only solution is to tie them down. Ideally they should be nailed to the subfloor to prevent any more movement, though excessively loose boards can be a sign of improper installation in the first place. Bringing in a professional hardwood installer to re-install your flooring properly is probably the only sure way to permanently solve the problem.

Benefits of wire brushed hardwood flooring:
An intensified grip:
The rougher surface of wire brushed floors give it a better grip than smooth hardwood floors, which can prevent dangerous slip and falls.
Wire Brushed floors can withstand wear and tear, making them a great option for households with kids or pets. This quality will also enhance the life of the floor. While wire brushed floors tend to be more expensive than plain hardwood floors, they will undoubtedly last longer, give you a better bang for your buck.
A unique look:
Many flooring experts recommend wire brushed floors to obtain the European look.
Wire Brushed floors are meant to have a rough, earthy feel. For this reason they are easy to maintain.
Hardwood Floor Antiquing
We use a combination of methods of hardwood floor services to replicate the time worn look of a floor that is 100 + years old. After we install and sand your floors, we distress and treat the floor with a prep product that allows the stain to “age” into the wood. This gives the bumps and bruises that aged look that only comes with years of everyday wear and tear. We then seal the stain and distressing with 2 coats of our exclusive Antique Matte polyurethane finish to replicate the look and patina of an hand-rubbed oil finish.
